Dental Exams & Hygiene
At our practice, we understand the importance of preventive dental care in promoting oral health and preventing dental problems before they become more serious.
Dental exams are an essential part of maintaining good oral health. During a dental exam, our experienced dentists will carefully examine your teeth, gums, and mouth for any signs of decay, gum disease, or other oral health problems. We may also take X-rays or other diagnostic tests to identify any issues that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Regular dental hygiene appointments are also crucial for maintaining good oral health. During a hygiene appointment, our skilled hygienists will thoroughly clean your teeth and gums, removing any plaque or tartar buildup that may have accumulated since your last visit. We will also provide education and tips on proper brushing and flossing techniques to help you maintain good oral hygiene habits at home.
This is one of the most important areas of dentistry but is often neglected. Dental cleanings are necessary to keep the gums and bone, the foundation of the teeth, healthy. The film that can be scraped off your teeth is called plaque. Plaque contains millions of bacteria that can affect the tissues surrounding and supporting your teeth. If plaque stays on your teeth for too long, it forms a hard layer called calculus or tartar. This layer is so hard it cannot be brushed off. The longer the plaque and calculus stay on the teeth, the more harm done to the gums and bone.
The first stage of gum disease is called Gingivitis. The symptoms are red, swollen gums that bleed easily. If not treated by a deep dental cleaning, the second stage of gum disease is experienced. The tartar below the gum line causes the gums to pull away from the teeth and form pockets that can become infected. This condition is called Periodontitis. The bone will deteriorate to the point the teeth become loose. The only treatment option will be to extract these teeth that lack support.
I’m so grateful we found this dental office! Between myself and my kids, we’ve never had a bad experience. The admin staff, hygienists and the dentists have been so kind and considerate of our fears/concerns. Best dental team around!
